We had recently moved to town and wanted to finish an unfinished space in the basement to add an office, a bathroom, bedroom, recreation space and storage. Dave and his team from CDRC were great to work with from start to finish. As in any contracting jobs there were some unexpected things that popped up here and there but I trusted he and his team to work through the options with us and help us select the easiest path forward. In the end we have a high quality living space that feels warm and comfortable and also adheres to all local codes so there will be no issues with safety or occupancy down the road. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that wants to add to their livable space.

We did entire basement which included 1/2 bath, 16x16 closet, home gym, custom dog shower, and a living room/open eating area.Also, we did a heating system and laundry/dryer and the heating system is keeping us toasty warm this season.The entire team was friendly and tidy- never once did they leave garbage around. Which if you have pets is so important.Dave and the contractors gave important feedback of pros and cons of each decision and completed tasks in an extremely efficient manner. When I think about the blank canvas our basement was before we got started, it felt overwhelming to consider all the possibilities, options, and personal preferences—let alone how it would all actually get done. The entire crew was incredibly professional, efficient, and detail-oriented. With Phil overseeing the project, he made sure everyone was on time every day, the worksite was extremely clean, and every detail was handled with care. Despite all the major construction, I never once felt like they didn’t treat our home as if it were their own.Jeremy was absolutely AMAZING with the trim work, and his and Dave’s attention to detail was next-level—even around the soffits, which made my wife especially happy. Joe, the electrician, walked us through every scenario and did outstanding work. CDRC also caught things other contractors didn’t, including leveling our floor with a new layer of concrete so our flooring turned out perfect.Any time I had a question, Bill and the crew were right there to address it. Fabian’s tile work was immaculate. This truly was a dream team of contractors, and the final result exceeded our expectations in every way. Now my family and I have the walk-out space we always dreamed of.The only downside? After seeing how incredible their work is, I don’t think we’ll be able to stop doing house projects. We just completed several major projects with Dave - we built a 2 story 16x16 expansion, re-sided our house and finished our basement. In the basement we now have an open area with a gas fireplace, full bathroom and a bedroom. Dave built a staircase and a window Egress for us. The 2nd floor of the expansion is now our 16x16 master closet. We also converted our old master closet into a small 2nd floor laundry room. Throughout the entire process, Dave and his team were wonderful to work with. The quality of work was top notch. We would highly recommend Dave and his company to others. Phil, Justin, Andy, Jeremy, Vince, Jeff were core team members that worked with us over the course of about 7 months. Chris was the draftsman we worked with - also terrific. Whenever issues were encountered during the build, we were able to work through them together and come up with creative solutions. The pricing is fair - we have found Dave to be honest and trust worthy. What he says he will do, he does. Phil was our project manager and very much our go to person for any day to day needs as the work progressed. Thanks to Dave, we really love all of our new spaces and our kids now have a great area (an entire floor) to play with their friends. Dave and his team did work on my deck that overlooked a pool and a pool deck a few years back. They replaced everything with trex( floor rails and stairs). I had an issue with the stairs but they came up with a good design that saved me some money. This year 2024 I had some issues with some of the boards and two post. Update: While doing some work on my patio, I noticed termite damage in the wood under my sliding doors (in the original part of the house, not the new sunroom). I got the termites taken care of but needed the wood replaced quickly due to guests arriving in a couple of weeks. I contacted CDRC and they quickly came out to assess the damaged wood and then got the repair scheduled and completed in time for me to finish my work before guests were to arrive. Very responsive and good quality work.I added a sunroom on to my house. Once we got through the permit process that was difficult due to the city of Saratoga Springs and not an issue of CDRC, they did high quality work and finished the project in good time. They even finished to a certain level ahead of time to work with my schedule and people visiting. Easy to work with and responsive to requests. Better pricing than other contractors I got pricing from as well.

I had a somewhat disappointing experience with CDRC. I spoke with Dave, the owner, about the possibility of adding a master bedroom/bath/closet and inquiring about a quote for finishing a three-season room.Initially, communication was good. However, after receiving the quote, we decided to proceed only with finishing the three-season room due to the high cost ($362 per sq foot) for the full addition, which did not cover various fees and additional expenses.After leaving a voicemail about our decision, unfortunately, we didn't receive a response. Despite trying to follow up three times, with promises of a callback, it didn't materialize, and I took that as a sign.Our project, although on the smaller side at $25,000, still represented a significant investment for us. It would have been appreciated to receive a simple yes or no without the additional three weeks of uncertainty. Also to mention, the 3 seasons room was 113 square feet and had infrastructure already, so again $220 square foot on that room still seemed high, but we were willing to pay for the higher level of service, professionalism & work, which we didn't get.I believe that maintaining a reputation for "craftsmanship & professionalism" should involve responding to basic messages, especially as CDRC charges premium prices. This experience leaves me questioning if smaller projects are given lower priority and raises concerns about communication during the actual project.This is just my honest opinion & is limited to my experience only.

If there were more than 5-stars for a review, I'd give even more. Dave and his amazing crew saved me from a huge botched job and my original contractor abandoning me after I paid him over $100k. The professionalism, knowledge and work ethic of all of the employees was at the highest level. They finished my big rehab in less that 12 days, where others would have taken 2 months. Everything about their work was 100+%, was refreshing and a pleasure to have done. I'd reccomend Dave and CDRC for any job, large or small. It is said, you get what you pay for. Dave and his team added a 3 season room onto our house and the experience was all positive. He is knowledgeable, practical and provided some great advice. Likewise, his project manager Phil was very helpful in guiding the plans as well as coordinating the build. The rest of the team was top notch too, Bill and Chris who did most of the construction, Steve who kept everything going logistics wise, and Josh who did a lot the hard physical work.At the end of every day, the work site was picked up and everything was put away.They worked through some adverse weather, Steve even shoveled out the work site so progress could continue after the storm at the end of March. CDRC did an amazing job, again, for my home in Delmar. This is the third project I have done with them, and I am 100% satisfied. Prior to this I had my basement remodeled and the master bath. This time my project was a remodel for my full bathroom on the second floor of my home. Dave always arrives at the time he says he is going to. He is always honest with possibilities as well as helps me create the best look for my room. I never have to wait weeks for an estimate. He is thoughtful and thorough in his work. I cannot give any positive feedback for the excavating, foundation work or sealing of my basement that was done in June.Wet cement being dumped on my neighbors property ("not my guys") to my gas line being bent preventing my hot water heater, furnace and stove not to function and National Grid digging up the lawn just reseeded. (again, "we didn't do that")This company and its salesman will not be recommended to my neighbors and my hospital coworkers.

When we first met with Dave, he offered ideas on how to finance the project. He was honest, transparent and pragmatic about how to manage the project when we were faced with challenges arising from the pandemic (delays on raw materials, increased costs, etc.). We used Capital District to construct a new sunroom on our home in Niskayuna. We are very happy with the experience and how the sunroom came out and would recommend Capital District. Though not the cheapest quote we received, I believe the construction is of higher quality, for example as the Sunroom is elevated over an existing patio and well insulated, we scoped in plywood coverings to keep rodents out of the insulation, which was not included in some of the other quotes but we felt was important given the many chipmunks in our yard and the destruction rodents can do. No corners were cut and quality subcontractors were used for work that was subcontracted out (Nolan did the plans, Crisafulli did the split, Ridgeline Roofing did the roof). While issues arise with scheduling and winter time construction, the project was largely on-schedule and fit our timeline and expectations, which is noteworthy considering the project was started in the fall of 2020 during the pandemic. The windows turned out to have a longer lead time than expected (pandemic) which added about a month, but our goal was to be in by March and we were. We had a leak around one of the skylights during a late winter thaw and the issue was corrected promptly and professionally. It is worth noting that it's a standing seam roof with a low grade. The water damage was repaired by Capital District and we have had no issues since the repair). No surprises on price or with scope changes (we added a few things).We would recommend Capital District.

Did a full kitchen remodel--complete teardown to the studs which included removing three interior walls and installing hidden beams in the ceiling. One of the best and largest residential contractors around. Dave promptly showed-up at our house in a professional vehicle and professional dressed. He was very informative and professional. Dave and his company are top notch from the vehicles they drive, the CDRC shirts they wear, the tools they use, etc. I hired a small young contractor about 10 years ago and he required a large deposit and was always asking for money. Dave is not that guy. Dave's company is so large and he does so much work that the smaller companies can't even compare.If you are looking for a company that is reliable, professional and structurally sound, hire Dave to do your work. We had a huge job to do: replace half of our house foundation, which was cracked and bowing. CDRC has the experience and expertise needed to get such a serious job done. They completed the work beautifully. The house is secure and the new foundation half no longer leaks with ground water, giving us extra usable space. We did encounter a few snags along the way, due to the company having to outsource some work to other contractors, but the owner, Dave, was always available to fix any problems immediately. Only thing keeping them from 5 stars was the inconsistent communication throughout the process. We never really knew, day to day, when people would show up to complete work and what they were working on. And extra expenses encountered during the process weren't discussed until after the fact, causing a bit of financial stress. But the end result is most important and the quality work speaks for itself. We have additional renovation plans to tackle, and we will be hiring them again when needed.

We hired Capital District Contractors to design and construct a three-season room and deck addition to our home, and we are extremely pleased with the results. Dave Bernacki and his crew were always professional. They did it all! Framing, sheetrock, flooring, windows, painting, electric, and they made every step easy for us as customers. We always felt informed as to how each phase of the build would happen and when. The construction was done over the winter, which meant that there were a handful of short delays due to cold weather but, nevertheless, everything was completed in a timely fashion and to the high standard that we hoped for. If we ever had questions or concerns, Dave was just an email away, and almost always responded within hours. We genuinely could not be happier that we hired Capital District Contractors and would definitely recommend them.

If they did call they didn't think my business was important enough to leave a message.Edit: After leaving the original review, the owner of the company thought it appropriate to look me up on Facebook so he could send me a message regarding my "negative review". Normally, I would normally be skeptical regarding what's promised and what is really received. However, Mr. Bernacki put us at ease with his easy going, no pressure estimate.We knew upfront the costs, what we were getting into and when things would be done. He offered ideas that cost less and gave us so much more. Most reasonable cost estimate and very personable owner and workers. Dave Bernacki told us up front that he was my best friend on the job, and he was absolutely right. We had our kitchen and dining room gutted and a bearing wall removed. Dave made some additional recommendations during the renovation which were valuable to the integrity of the project.
